Spectacular outcome!
Photos in reverse chronological order, because glitch.
That's a red velvet cake (See Foodette for the recipe) designed after the DC Comics Red Lantern Corps. Their rings are powered by RAGE. The symbol is fondant, the center is a injection of BLOOD....styled frosting. The cake bleeds. It makes sense if you read comics, honestly.
YUM.

half-assed blue lantern cake
simple vanilla cake. Yes, I screwed up the symbol. Yes, the color is slightly off. Yes, the icing is from 2 different tubes which ended up being different colors despite appearances. And, yes, it turned my shit blue. Temporarily, I'm hoping. You should have heard me giggling in the john.
Well done and completely assed Red Velvet cake Red Lantern theme with fondant coming later this week. I promise.

Mix Review: Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate
Today I am using another of the Ghirardelli mixes. I made them yesterday.
The mix is good, not great. A tad expensive. The mix is a tad dry, and a little bit sweet for a dark mix. Taste-wise it is satisfying. The edges are a tad too tough for my tastes. As usual, my Bubbe was stunned by them. I, on the other hand, have more discriminating tastes.
B+

BEHOLD, my equivalent to Ambrosia
This sandwich...this beautiful sandwich, has sustained my life for 10 years. sure there have been adaptations over time, and the removal of chips was quite a blow to my palette, but the core remains the same, and amazing. Scoff at you will at its simplicity, but nothing in the world tastes better to me.
That's a low-salt turkey sandwich on an egg twist roll treated with tobacco sauce and a dash of mayonnaise. Next to it is a small puddle of honey mustard for dipping. Aside the sandwich are two Dannon Coffee yogurts, which I've been addicted to daily since age 3. And that red cup? It's filled with apple cider.
Brownies tomorrow. Fresh batch cooling.

First food related post/A public service announcement
Going to a fair/faire/festival or similar can be a time of great fun. However, you also risk impregnating yourself with vicious and pernicious bacterium the likes of which only Lovecraft had the vision to foresee.
I now retreat back to the water closet from whence I came, and shall remain for most of the day.

Welcome!
Foodette and I are friends, and at her suggestion, I have made this blog for all of my cooking and such.
Things to look forward to:
-An ode to sandwiches
-Brownie after brownie after brownie
-Themed confections
-My many attempts to shape fondant
-An ode to frozen pizzas
-An unsuspected and completely unwarranted attack upon Foodette
-Brownie after brownie after brownie
-An ode to something completely different than sandwiches and frozen pizzas.
And much much more!
